Credits and form of study program: 180 credits. Full-time studies - 3 years, part-time studies - 4 years.

The program is implemented by the Department of  Rehabilitation and Social Welfare of the Faculty of Medicine.

Qualification to be awarded: Professional Bachelor of Health Sciences

Advantage. Studies. The educational philosophy of the programme is based on the philosophy of pragmatism, i.e. to develop an individual who knows how to solve life's problems in a way that takes into account his/her interests and needs.  Students have the possibility to combine their studies and work by choosing between full-time study (3 years) or part-time study (4 years). Full-time sessional studies are available for applicants who want to finish their studies faster and with less study intensity. Students studying full-time are covered by the state-funded Compulsory Health Insurance. 

Advantage. Real experience.  Students can practice at the College's Cosmetology Centre, which is equipped with treatment rooms, a mini-spa, etc. Already during the year of study, students have the opportunity to test their acquired professional skills by providing services to clients under the supervision of lecturers. During their studies, students carry out professional practices in various beauty and SPA salons and centres in Utena, Vilnius, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, etc. Participation in various promotions. Preparation of participants for various competitions. Students participate in professional competitions, not only at national but also at international level.

Advantage. Experience abroad. Students go to Greece, Cyprus, Latvia, Poland, etc. for study and practice.

Career opportunities

Graduates will be able to assess the condition of the client's skin and its appendages using visual, manual, instrumental methods of examination and assessment; to complete and collect data on the condition of the skin and its appendages; to draw up an individual cosmetological care plan for the client and to advise on the care of the skin and its appendages; to select and perform cosmetic products, materials, tools, apparatuses for cosmetological procedures in order to maintain the client's good physical condition; to organize the business of beauty services; to carry out applied research in the field of cosmetology.

Possibilities for further studies. After graduating from the Cosmetology collegiate study programme and obtaining a professional bachelor's degree in health sciences, graduates may continue their studies in health and social sciences in Lithuanian and foreign higher education institutions after additional studies.

Employability. Graduates will be able to work in cosmetic parlours, beauty salons, wellness and SPA centres, film and photo studios, create specialised individual companies, work as make-up artists, consultants in cosmetic shops and cosmetology business enterprises. 

For Full-time and Part-time Studies – For Students Admitted from 2024
 
The aim of the study programme is to prepare  cosmetology specialists who possess the knowledge and skills to provide high-quality and safe facial and body care services, ensuring an individual's physical well-being, guided by evidence-based practice and innovations.
 
Expected learning outcomes are:
 
Knowledge and ability to apply it. A graduate:
1.1. They have a thorough understanding of Lithuania's national healthcare system, legal regulations governing professional activities, and personal data protection principles.
1.2. They are knowledgeable in the fundamentals of anatomy, physiology, pathology, cytology and genetics, skin histology, dermatology and allergology, microbiology, infectious diseases and their control, pharmacology, toxicology, biophysics, biochemistry, cosmetic chemistry and material science, hygiene, healthy lifestyle, and other areas related to cosmetology.
 
Research skills. A graduate:
2.1. Ability to plan and conduct applied scientific research focused on professional cosmetology practice, adhering to research ethics.
2.2. Ability to apply research findings, develop professional activities, and implement cosmetology innovations.
 
Special abilities. A graduate:
3.1. Ability to plan and perform skin and skin appendage assessments, select appropriate evaluation methods, recognize potential pathologies, formulate cosmetology-related issues, and create individualized skin care programs.
3.2. Ability to perform manual and apparatus-based facial and body skin treatments, decorative cosmetics applications, as well as hand, foot, and nail care procedures, following health and safety requirements for beauty services and ensuring the prevention of infectious diseases and allergic reactions.
3.3. Ability to plan and organize cosmetology service businesses and educational activities.
 
Social skills. A graduate:
4.1. Ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues, clients, and various social groups while adhering to professional ethics and civic responsibility.
4.2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with healthcare professionals in a multicultural environment.
 
Personal abilities. A graduate:
5.1. Ability to critically evaluate their professional activities, knowledge, and values, reflect on their professional growth, and recognize the importance of lifelong learning.
5.2. Ability to make independent decisions, assess their impact, and act appropriately in specific situations by applying practical knowledge and skills while taking moral responsibility for societal well-being and the environment.
 
For Full-time and Part-time Studies – For Students Admitted from 2022
 
The aim of the study program is to prepare cosmetology professionals who are able to provide cosmetology services with a holistic approach and quality control; to work independently and in a team with health and beauty professionals in the organisation of health and beauty service businesses.

Expected learning outcomes are:

Knowledge and ability to apply it. A graduate:
1.1 Understands the Lithuanian national health system, legislation governing professional activities and the principles of personal data protection.
1.2 Understands the anatomy, physiology, pathology, cytology and genetics, skin histology, dermatology and allergy, microbiology, infectious diseases and their control, pharmacology, toxicology, biophysics, bio-physics, bio-chemistry, cosmetic chemistry and material science, hygiene, healthy lifestyle and other areas related to the activities of cosmetologists

Research skills. A graduate:
2.1. Be able to plan and carry out applied research oriented to the cosmetology profession in accordance with research ethics.
2.2. Be able to apply the results of research to develop professional practice through the application and implementation of cosmetological innovations.

Special abilities. A graduate:
3.1 Be able to plan and carry out an assessment of the condition of the skin and its appendages, to select appropriate assessment methods, to recognise possible pathologies, to formulate a cosmetological problem and to design an individual skin care programme
3.2 Be able to carry out manual and hardware procedures for the care of the skin of the face and body, decorative cosmetics, skin of the hands and feet, and nails, in compliance with the health and safety requirements of beauty services, ensuring the prevention of communicable diseases and allergic reactions
3.3 Be able to plan and organise the business and educational activities of cosmetic services.

Social skills. A graduate:
4.1 Be able to communicate and cooperate with colleagues, clients and various social groups in a professional ethical and civic manner.
4.2 Be able to work independently and as part of a team with health professionals in a multicultural environment.

Personal abilities. A graduate:
5.1 Be able to critically evaluate own professional performance, knowledge and values, reflect on own growth as a professional and understand the importance of lifelong learning.

For students admitted from 2021 
 
The aim of the study programme is to prepare beauty therapists, professionally capable of autonomously and in a team to provide services cosmetological beauty, health and wellness in the field of self-critical assessment of the practical experience of professional activities, creatively adapt to constant changes in the environment.

After studies, graduates will be able to:

  • assess the client's skin condition based on the functional, aesthetic, age criteria, specifically selecting assessment methods and equipment, according to a history of personal data and the identification of the aesthetic needs of the customer;
  • create short-term and long-term plans for cosmetic procedures, assessment of the condition of the skin and set the individual objective and subjective skin changes;
  • analysis and self-selection cosmetics materials Cosmetology equipment and appliances, according to the client's needs and the nature of the procedures performed;
  • self-made cosmetic procedures and the quality of service, security specialist (beauty, health, wellness areas) and non-specialized areas, in accordance with cosmetic governing documents and regulations, hygiene requirements, the principles of ergonomics;
  • effectively plan, organize cosmetological services and professional practices;
  • organize cosmetic care business, an analysis of the market for cosmetic, cosmetic materials, cosmetic equipment, tools advertising and distribution;
  • communicate and collaborate with beauty care and other areas, customers in the national and international context;
  • collect and organize the data necessary for performance problems, and the use of information resources and information technology;
  • self-learn, creatively adapt to the changing environment, identifying and managing personal change and development needs
